Minigun Guide — Sustained DPS Soldier Weapon

The Minigun is the A-tier sustained-DPS special weapon in Roblox Dinosaur Hunter by HALFBYTE — slower to reposition than a Rifle, but devastating once spun up on Facility turrets, Hills ridges, and City rooftops. If you are not ready for the Rocket Launcher grind, the Minigun teaches soldier discipline: hold angles, shred charging dinosaurs, and punish Hydra players who walk into open lanes.

Minigun Overview

• Tier: A — second only to Rocket Launcher among Special weapons.
• Category: Special — high credit cost; plan with the credit calculator.
• Damage: Very High sustained — melts medium dinosaurs and pressures 10-health S-tiers.
• Movement: Slow while firing — never spin up in open Swamp foliage without cover.
• Best maps: Hills, Facility (turret), City rooftops, Volcano high ground.
• Weak maps: Temple interiors and Swamp ambushes where dinos close distance before you track.

Core Positioning Rules

1. Pre-aim common approach lanes before dinosaurs leave the cage.
2. Plant near a teammate with Sniper or Rocket so you are not the only focus fire target.
3. Reposition between spins — standing still on Hills gets you flanked by Velociraptor.
4. Save ammo bursts for committed charges; spraying early reveals your turret nest.

Minigun vs Rocket Launcher

Rocket Launcher wins burst — one shot deletes most dinosaurs. Minigun wins sustained fights against tanks that survive the first rocket or against multiple dinos stacking a chokepoint. Buy Minigun if you prefer holding ground and shredding Spinosaurus / T-Rex pushes. Save longer for Rocket Launcher if you want pick potential against Indoraptor flanks and Stadium-adjacent Hunt lobbies. Many soldiers eventually own both.

Countering Premium Dinosaurs

• Hydra — track the wide pulse wind-up; keep distance on Hills and force head-on approaches into your cone.
• Godzilla — you will not out-DPS a full team shield alone; call Rocket support and focus legs/approach paths.
• Indoraptor — high attack speed closes gaps; kite backward while firing, never let it hug your blind side.
• Velociraptor packs — stop shooting the tank; swivel to the flanks first.
